      Hi All,

I can’t restrain myself from posting this interesting orchid:

I bought this tiny young plant initially with only two leaves, and after the first winter all the leaves dropped so I thought that was the end.

Amazingly, two new buds appeared in the following spring, which then grew into two strong leaves. After that more leaves developed in autumn that year. With the lesson learnt, the following winter I took the plant indoor to stay away from the extreme cold. This spring it sent out a spike, with twelve flowers organised in a circular shape. Although each flower is only 2 centimetre in height, the vivid pink dots on a white background on each petal was very striking and hence attractive. Also what was quite unusual was the flowers are covered in a thick slimy substance, which initially I thought was nectar, but tasted it and found it was not sweet. Then I thought it must have foul smell to attract certain flies, but I failed to detect any odour. So the slimy coating is a mystery to me.

Anyway I am glad to share my experience on this little orchid, how it came back from near death and produced such a cute and mind boggling flower.

      Cheers,

      Herbert

That is gorgeous mate. Wish I could keep the Bulbophyllums wet enough to grow well for me
